"The Camp Waupaca Hall of Fame certificate was in the mail today. Thank you so much. It will be framed and hung with the honors I have gathered over many years.
Here is a list of some of the awards that were given to me:
- Wisconsin Lakes Stewardship
- 30 years as Chairman of the Legend Lake District
- Harry L. Dinkle Band Booster Award (Boy's Technical High School Band)
- Chairman of the Board Milwaukee Pops Band
- Milwaukee Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year
- A plack for directing school plays and manager of the school stage.
I look at these and can recall the days of my youth. It was hard for me to retire from Camp Waupaca for Boys. The house where my family spent summers was worn out so the last two years that I was at Camp Waupaca in a trailer house. My daughters wanted to stay in West Allis to "run" with their friends. Renee was a McDonald's manager and wanted to keep the job. Three women always win a vote against one man."
